Peak Season- Prime Trekking Season
What You Can Expect:
Comfortable temperatures (12°C - 25°C) ideal for great long walks.
A dry to clear sky, with just enough ice to be melting on the trails that are above 4000m.
Most popular treks available (Beas Kund, Bhrigu Lake, Hampta Pass, Valley of Flowers)
A long low-lying alpine meadow with pictorial blooming wildflowers making your campsites almost postcard perfect.
Being peak season means just meeting more fellow trekkers than you did in previous months.
Please plan early and book early, to organize your guides, rental gear and camping permits.
Jul-Sep
Moderate Season- Monsoon Treks and Gushing Landscapes
What You Can Expect:
Heavy rainfall with lush valleys. Gushing streams and waterfalls.
Temperatures usually average between 10°C and 20°C with misty mornings.
Trails could be slick and the higher passes could temporarily close as a result of landslips.
Reduced levels of tourists results in quieter trails and campsites.
Great time for treks in the region where rains are not washing everything away, such as Spiti, Kinnaur, and Ladakh (subject to weather).
This is also a great time where you can be flexible with your travels and treks to check weather forecasts using current information.
Oct–Mar
Off Season- Winter Treks & Snow Adventures
What To Expect
Crisp air and temperatures often below freezing, especially above 3,000 m.
Snow blankets popular routes (Hampta Pass, Kedarkantha, Brahmatal), creating magical winter trekking conditions.
Winter treks require special equipment and preparation, but the rewards are spectacular.
Fewer visitors ensure solitude and an intimate connection with nature.
Some trails and roads close entirely after heavy snowfall- confirm accessibility in advance.
December holidays (Christmas/New Year) see a spike in trekkers- plan your logistics early.
